VR Creative Hackathon Goes Global with TechCrunch & Viond
Technology transcends borders and with Virtual Reality (VR) now your experiences can too. The theme #VRBucketList was chosen to inspire designers, hackers and marketers from all corners of the world to bring their ideas to life and create a VR experience they deem worthy of a ‘bucket list’ experience.
“This year, we’re expanding our hackathon in a big way by going virtual. We’re inviting thousands of people from around the world to participate in our Disrupt SF Hackathon to show us how they would solve various challenges through the creative production and application of technology.” – TechCrunch
Sticking to a true hackathon format, participants (in teams or individually) will have just over eight weeks from 1 June to July 28th to create and publish a truly interactive 360° experience using the Viond Builder and Player app.
Nothing is off limits with the theme of #VRBucketList. Participants can create walkthroughs showing stunning locations from their world, teach someone a bucket list skill in VR or create interactive experiences that the world hasn’t seen before.
“By partnering with TechCrunch for the Disrupt SF Hackathon we are enabling the first Creative Hackathon in TechCrunch history. We want to unlock the creative potential of developers and creatives around the world and provide them with a unique opportunity to show us, what we haven’t seen before.” – Rolf Illenberger, CEO Viond.
The winning experience will be chosen by a team of VR professionals and be awarded a cash prize of $1.000 and a 12-month Viond enterprise license which includes a custom white label application for IOS, Android and Oculus for the winning team.
